PEACE EDUCATION/CONFLICT RESOLUTION

It so no longer news that Africa records the highest statistics of violence conflicts in the world. What however, receives one of the most disturbing aspect of the continents conflict realities is the relative failure of various mainstream mechanism of conflict resolution and peace building on the continent to significantly incorporate elements of traditional beliefs and practices into mainstream intervention practices.

ACAHD provides peace education and conflict resolution through alternative dispute resolution. We work with traditional , women and youth leaders to use various African beliefs and values to resolve crisis. We design and manages peace and conflict resolution in areas where fighting is active, most especially in Niger Delta and other African countries. Nigeria is rife with conflicts over petroleum resources and religion. Amidst this situation, the ACAHD is working on peace efforts for the Niger Delta region, including working collaboratively with local governments, oil companies, and Nigerian NGOs. Also ,we mediate religious crisis between Christians and Muslims .

LEADERSHIP TRAINING

Promoting Democratic Principles and Ethics; ACAHD believes that young people should become the focus of capacity- building for leadership on the African continent. The challenges of overcoming the history and pathologies of violent conflicts, ethnically centered politics and corrupt and incompetent leadership in order to provide a foundation for a new Africa of prosperity and freedom underline the urgency of investing in leadership training for young Africans. ACAHD teach courses designed through the organization’s leadership training, emphasize the significance and the continued existence of social and human development in Africa

The guiding principles of the academy are enterprise, innovation, and value-orientation. We also provide vocational job training to women and youths and provide machineries and soft loans to start small businesses. We also Provides unemployed youth with marketable skills and job placement. We also strengthening woman’s influence in social life, free private enterprise, and art and by means of partnership training activity, informational exchange with Non-Governmental organizations in Nigeria and throughout the world

WATER/ SANITATION/CONSTRUCTION

Access to the supply of portable water and decent sanitation is very low in most small towns with a population between 5,000 and 20,000 people in Nigeria. Less than 30% of the people living in the 2000 – 3000 small towns in Nigeria access to clean and safe water supply, and even less for sanitation. Under this program area, ACAHD develop the best delivery mechanism for water supply and sanitation services Igbatako to be replicated later across Nigeria in small towns.

The organization constructs buildings, latrines with water system and provides sanitation. ACAHD is improving the capacity of local communities in Nigeria in collaboration with partners, local and state government to provide the services necessary for access to good education by constructing schools, construct deep wells, uniforms and school materials.

HUMAN RIGHTS

Through programmes of local and regional building, ACAHD seeks to legitimize rights afforded under law and claim the promise of international law domestically. Under this programme, we provide human rights training, legal representation to women and disadvantaged group. We also conduct promotional research. ACAHD’S methods of achieving goals include active protection of human rights through litigation (ACAHD operates a legal services programme that provides assistance to victims of human rights abuse), and promotional activities such as research studies, investigations, reports and publications.
